The Jomolhari Trek is one of Bhutan’s most iconic and rewarding treks, blending moderate to challenging terrain with breathtaking Himalayan landscapes. Spanning 7 to 12 days, the trek takes adventurers through diverse ecosystems, from lush valleys and dense forests to high-altitude passes like Yelila Pass (4,820m) and Nyelila Pass. Starting from Gunitsawa Village in Paro, the trail offers stunning views of Mount Jomolhari (7,326m), Bhutan’s sacred peak marking the border with Tibet. The highlight of the trek is the awe-inspiring vista of Mount Jomolhari from Jangothang (Jomolhari Basecamp).
Trekkers will traverse altitudes ranging from 2,500m to 4,930m, encountering pristine lakes, alpine meadows, and rare flora and fauna. The remote northern regions of Bhutan, where the trek is located, are sparsely inhabited, with only a few nomadic herders tending yaks, ensuring an authentic and serene experience. This trek is perfect for those seeking a blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and adventure.
